Someone tries to install software into the hardware of your brain. ___ Note biographique Marcel van Brakel est né en 1970, il a étudié la mise en scène à la Theatre School de Eindhoven pendant un an. Diplômé avec mention en 1995 de l'Académie des Arts de St. Joost, il travaille depuis comme réalisateur indépendant de films et de pièces de théâtre. Depuis 1992, il dirige la troupe de théâtre-multimédia Het Witte Vuur, qui se produit dans de nombreux festivals de théâtre nationaux et internationaux. Marcel Van Brakel s'efforce de créer des images poétiques fortes, aux significations multiples. Ses films et ses pièces de théâtre composent un réseau de messages plutôt qu'une histoire hermétique, pour évoluer ainsi vers un mélange postmoderne où amour et violence, culture populaire et culture élitiste tentent de coexister. Marcel van Brakel (1970,-) Studied stage direction for one year at Theatre School Eindhoven. In 1995 he graduated cum laude at Art Academy St.Joost. Ever since he has worked as an independent film- and theatremaker. Since 1992 he's been a director at the mutimedia-theatregroup Het Witte Vuur, which has played at various national and international theatrefestivals.Van Brakel manages to create powerful, poetic images, which are always meaningful in more than one way. His films and theatre plays rather form a network of meaning than a hermetical story. Thus developing into a postmodern mix in which violence and humour, high and low culture manage to coexist. ___ Filmographie / Filmography 2002 - Attached, Internet video art project, Filmfilm. Four 1 minute shortfilms designed espacially for the internet. 2001 - Trekhaak, 3 hour video-scape for a theatreplay performed during a technoparty about peoples obsession with cars, by Het Witte Vuur. 2000 - Terminal, video-scape for a theatreplay by Het Witte Vuur and technoproducers Acid Junkies, about the victims of a plaincrash. 1999 - Creep, videoprojections and design for a theatreplay by Ubbergen about serial killers. 1995 - Worm does it again, satirical shortfilm, for National Dutch Television (HOS). Gardentragedy about a man who has to deal with a strange gardendisease. 1994 - The bold vocalist, filmprojections for a theatreplay by Het Witte Vuur. - Salome, short fictionfilm, combining 'Salomé' by Oscar Wilde with the works of George Bataille. In a desolate warzone man and women fight the endless battle of the sexes. - U.N.N.A., dramatised documentary, for the international theatrefestival Theatrale in Unna-Germany.
