"Leader's favorite toys" est un film vidéo basé sur une performance de l'auteur ayant le même titre et son installation " Piece of shit ", réalisée au Banff Centre pour les Arts au Canada en 1998. La vidéo met en équilibre la recherche de la sexualité et la politique. L'auteur fait référence aux dangers des 'illusions de masse au 20ème siècle et explore le problème de la responsabilité à la fin du millénaire.


"Leader's favourite toys" is a video film based on the autor's performance of the same title and interactive installation "Piece of shit", realised at The Banff Centre for the Arts in Canada 1998. The video balances between the research of sexuality and politics. The author appeals to the danger of 20th century mass illusions and explores a problem of the responsability at the end of the millennium.

Biographie




Oksana Chepelyk est née en 1961 en Ukraine, où elle vit et travaille encore aujourd'hui. Elle a étudié à l'institut d'art de Kiev entre 1978 et 1984. A la suite de ces études, elle a approfondi son cursus à Moscou (1986-1988) et a participé au programme d'étude indépendant au CREDAC de Paris (1996), le Residency Program au Banff Centre pour les Arts, Canada (1998), et au Bauhaus-Kolleg, Dessau, Allemagne (2000). Artiste multimédia, elle travaille avec la vidéo, la performance, la photographie, l'installation, la peinture. Elle a largement exposé à travers le monde et a reçu de nombreux prix.


Oksana Chepelyk was born in 1961 in Ukraine, where she lives and works today. She studied at the Art Institute in Kiev from 1978-1984. Subsequently, she completed a post-graduate course in Moscow (1986-1988) and participated in the Independent Study Program at CREDAC in Paris, (1996), the Residency Program at the Banff Centre for the Arts, Canada (1998), and at the Bauhaus-Kolleg, Dessau, Germany (2000). She works as multimedia artist with video, performance, photography, installation and painting. She has widely exhibited at festivals internationally and has been awarded numerous prizes.
