Oliwia TONTERI and Jerem TONTERI film a solitary character travelling, and by associating images and forms, they deploy the premises of a dream. Johanna DOMKE directs a travelling shot in a park, overlapping public and private spaces. The intrusive camera is like an omniscient eye which would go as far as to build reality in order to create fiction. Theodore TAGHOLM recreates movement from landscape photos. Ken JACOBS digitally revisits a film that he directed between 1964 and 1965, during the war in Vietnam. This film is just as much about time and history as it is about music and human relations. Nicolas LELIÈVRE, Renaud HERBIN and Anamaria FERNANDES directed this series of images, alternating the city of Aubusson with portraits of its inhabitants. Somewhere in between the post card, the slideshow and stereophotograph, these images lay out a sensitive portrait of the city. Crispin GURHOLT films the mise en scene of fixed instants, and leads our gaze to the rebuilding of a possible story. Axel ROESSLER explores a polaroïd photo album. Miska Michael KNAPEK films a café for 22 hours ; decomposes the sequence into spatiotemporal fragments and recomposes a new image, proposing a condensed period of filmed time. Seoungho CHO introduces vertical breaks into the horizontal lines of the golden landscape of Death Valley in California. Mahbubur RAHAMAN films the urban spaces and children in a city in Bangladesh.

Johanna DOMKE redirects an old Danish school tradition in which, once a year, the students burn their professors’ effigy in the woods. What seemed to be fiction at first becomes more and more like the documentation of an old ritual. Charlotte GINSBORG shows testimonies of a truck driver and a singer, filmed in their own environments. Their paths cross in reality when the singer has an accident, which leads the story in an uncertain fictitious direction. Tobias Yves ZINTEL and Sebastian WEBER film teenagers in a professional high school, their dreams contradicting imposed social constraints. Reality then shifts when they appear one after the other in the situation and environment that is dearest to them. Tsai MING LIANG offers an open interpretation of Madame Butterfly where a woman abandoned by her lover wanders in the unrest of the bus station in Kuala Lumpur.

In this studio photo shoot for the magazine Playboy, the photographers aim to capture the most commercial image of the nude woman possible.
By Comparaison
An overview of different brick production methods worldwide. “I want to propose a film which contributes something to the existing concepts. A comparison of the work done in a traditional society, for example in Africa, with that of a developing country, like India and that of a society that is highly industrialized like in Europe or Japan. The target of the comparison is the work which is done for the construction of homes.” (H. F.).

LIU WEI films the silence of passers-by 20 years after the protests at Tiananmen Square in China. While the memory of the deaths is becoming blurred, the impossible remembrance is being replaced by illusion. Apichatpong WEERASETHAKUL slowly films the interior spaces of houses in a village. They are all deserted, apart from one, wherein we see a group of young soldiers digging a hole in the ground. Three men recite a letter addressed to Uncle Boonmee, which tells the story of a small community where all the houses have been abandoned. Eija-Liisa AHTILA recounts an incident which took place during the Algerian war. Reacting to the atrocities committed, two young Algerian boys murder their friend, a French boy of the same age. The film starts in the present day as Death enters the house of the Poet. She starts to investigate these past events, which gradually become interwoven with the present moment.
