8 How does one REGISTER an entry?
Answer: You may choose between two types of registration (please choose either one OR the other):
| |
OPTION 1: WITH THE CLASSIC ENTRY FORM, FOR USE WITH REGULAR MAIL:
Proposals should be sent by mail, with a printed entry form to fill in online. You must fill out the online entry form, print it, sign it and include it in your package with the required documentation (DVD, texts, images, etc. - specifics on what documentation to include can be found on the entry form).
PLEASE NOTE : if you wish to submit multiple entries, you must fill out ONE ENTRY FORM PER ENTRY. An entry without a form is an entry that we will not be able to consider.
For schools, distributors, and production companies: those
organizations (ONLY schools, distributors, and production companies) that
would like to submit MORE THAN 10 PROPOSALS are not obliged to
fill in the online entry form.
OPTION 2: WITH THE 100% ONLINE ENTRY FORM (WITHOUT POSTAL SENDING):
Before to fill in the entry form, you must post on the web the required material: video + synopsis or presentation text + biography + filmography and/or exhibition list. In other words, your video must be uploaded on a web site (like Vimeo, Youtube, Dailymotion, or a personal web site) and your texts must be available on a web page. We strongly recommend to use the online service offered by VIMEO www.vimeo.com: it is free, it allows to create an access password, it is respectful of the video resolution, it offers a description text area where you may paste the text material.
When the required material (video + synopsis or presentation text + biography + filmography and/or exhibition list) will be available online, then please fill in the entry form here. You will have to enter in the entry form the web links of the required material.
Material sent by email is not accepted.
IMPORTANT: Video web plateforms where you can upload your video (Vimeo, Youtube, Dailymotion) often limit the size of a file to upload. For example, a free account on VIMEO has a limit of 500 Mo per video file to upload. We advise to use .MP4 video file format that has an interesting rate of compression/quality. Or you may use the .VOB file of a DVD of your work. The .VOB file is in the 'VIDEO-TS' folder of the DVD. You will just have to copy the .VOB file on your computer, then to change its extension .VOB to .MPEG. Then you will be able to upload it, and it will be playable. |
9 WHAT FORMATS can I use to submit an entry?
Answer: Submission formats depend on which registration option you choose. You may send your entry by mail (Option 1), or submit your entry/entries on line (Option 2 with Reelport.com):
| |
OPTION 1: WITH THE CLASSIC ENTRY FORM, FOR USE WITH REGULAR MAIL:
In this case:
• ALL film and video copies that are part of your submission must be received on DVD format. For films and videos, no other format will be accepted. No master video will be accepted, nor will originals be accepted.
• PLEASE NOTE: Before mailing anything, verify that your DVD is wholly readable on DVD players that are currently sold, such as those that are sold commercially. PAL/NTSC, DVD-R or DVD+R formats are accepted (preferably, no DVD RW format).
• Audio and multimedia entries are accepted on CD, CD-rom, and DVD.
• PLEASE NOTE : do not attach any labels or stickers to your DVD, CD or CD-rom, as this can interfere with playback.
• Put your DVDs, CDs and CD-ROMs in the mailing envelope without a plastic box or case.
OPTION 2: WITH THE 100% ONLINE ENTRY FORM (WITHOUT POSTAL SENDING):
• In this case, you must send NOTHING by mail, and the submission format consists of the video file that you must upload.

In other words, your video must be uploaded on a web site (like Vimeo, Youtube, Dailymotion, or a personal web site) and your texts must be available on a web page. • YES, multiple video or film entries may be recorded on one DVD. NOTE : it is essential that you clearly and legibly note the order in which the works are recorded.
