Dans X-mas Yogurt, les mains d'une femme anonyme décorent un pot de yaourt avec les couleurs de Noël, rouge et vert. Dans cette vidéo muette, les mains, avec leurs inévitables ongles rouges, mettent en scène un désir phallique aux multiples facettes -et expriment une envie de peindre, un besoin d'immerger des objets dans du lait caillé, et un sentiment de colère dont la force se ressent mieux dans une construction spatiale que dans le langage.

In "X-mas Yogurt" wird ein Joghurtbecher von anonymen weiblichen Händen in weihnachtlichen Farben rot und grün dekoriert. In diesem stummen Video wird das phallische Verlangen durch die Frauenhände mit ihren unvermeidlich roten Fingernägeln in vielfältiger ausgedrückt - und zugleich die Lust am Malen, das Bedürfnis, Gegenstände in vergorener Milch zu versenken, sowie eine Verärgerung, deren Gewalt sich besser mittels räumlicher Konstruktion als über die Sprache nachempfinden lässt.

X-mas Yogurt presents two anonymous female hands decorating a container of yogurt according to the logic of the colors of Christmas, red and green. In this silent video, the hands, with their unavoidable red nails, enact a multi-faceted phallic longing--expressing a desire for painting, a need to submerge objects in milk-gone-bad, and an anger whose force is better felt in spatial construction than in language.

Rebekah Rutkoff est artiste, conservatrice, et écrivain. Elle réside à Brooklyn, New York. Ses travaux de photographies en séries et de vidéo ont été exposés à l'échelle internationale. En 2001, elle a co-fondé le Jaraf video art screening series à New York. Elle travaille actuellement sur un projet vidéo dont le but est d'effacer la frontière entre la pratique de l'art et les activités de conservateur, intitulé Color Therapy for Oedipal Conflicts.

Rebekah Rutkoff ist Künstlerin, Kuratorin und Schriftstellerin. Sie lebt im New Yorker Stadteil Brooklyn. Ihre Serienfotos und Videoarbeiten wurden international ausgestellt. 2001 war sie Mitbegründerin der "Jaraf video art screening series" in New York. Derzeit arbeitet sie an einem Videoprojekt mit dem Titel "Farbtherapie für ödipale Konflikte", ein Projekt, das ihr Kunstschaffen mit ihrer kuratorischen Aktivität verbindet.

Rebekah Rutkoff is an artist, curator and writer living in Brooklyn, NY. Her work in serial photography and video art has been shown internationally. In 2001 she co-founded the Jaraf video art screening series in New York City. Currently she is at work on an ongoing video project that blurs the line between art-making and curatorial practices entitled Color Therapy for Oedipal Conflicts.

Une video muette dans laquelle deux mains de femme décorent un pot de yaourt en respectant les mêmes couleurs : rouge et vert. Cette vidéo muette se compose de trois parties non-montées, qui illustrent les étapes d'une performance effectuée par les mains d'une femme inconnue. De manière décidée, elle se met à préparer un " yaourt de Noël " en immergeant des objets ayant un rapport avec Noël dans un pot de yaourt, puis en le décorant et en le servant, le tout en respectant une structure stricte de contrôle esthétique.

A silent video in which two female hands decorate a container of yogurt according to the logic of red and green. This silent video is comprised of three unedited sections, documenting stages in a performance by the hands of an unidentified woman. With great deliberacy, she takes on the task of preparing ìX-Mas Yogurtî by submerging Christmas-related objects into a container of yogurt and then decorating and serving it within a strict structure of aesthetic control.
