Whir (hwûr, wûr), v. whirred, whir·ring, whirs, v. intr.: Produire un ronflement ou un vrombissement, caractéristique d'un objet en mouvement. v. tr.: Faire vrombir quelque chose. n.: 1. Son vibrant ou ronflant (par ex. les roues d'une auto). 2. Activité bruyante, fébrile ; agitation (par ex. celle d'une foule dans un magasin). "Whir" peut se comprendre comme un voyage urbain à travers ces poches (extérieures et intérieures) constituant un espace entre expérience et imagination. L'ordinaire devient extraordinaire, créant une expérience sensorielle pour le spectateur. La ville cesse d'être une unité spatiale localisable avec précision pour se métamorphose en "champ urbain", mosaïque d'images plutôt que structure matérielle.

Vibrierender oder sirrender Ton (z.B. von sich drehenden Autoreifen). 2. Geräuschhafte, fieberhafte Aktivität (z.B. die einer Menschenmenge in einem Kaufhaus).

Whir (hwûr, wûr), v. whirred, whir·ring, whirs, v. intr.: To move so as to produce a vibrating or buzzing sound. v. tr.: To cause to make a vibratory sound. n.: 1. A sound of buzzing or vibration: the whir of turning wheels. 2. Excited, noisy activity; bustle: the whir of busy shoppers. "'Whir" can be seen as a journey through the City's interior and exterior pockets existing in a space between experience and imagination. The ordinary becomes extraordinary and is transferred to the viewer as an experience for the senses. The city is no longer a clearly localizable spatial unit, but has transformed itself into an "urban field", a collection of images instead of a material structure.

Bull.Miletic est le nom choisi par Synne Bull et Dragan Miletic pour leur association artistique fondée à San Francisco en 2000. Synne Bull est née à Oslo en Norvège en 1973 et vit aujourd'hui à San Francisco, en Californie. Elle est directrice adjointe du département des "Genres nouveaux" au San Francisco Art Institute, où elle a obtenu ses diplômes des beaux-arts (licence en Beaux-Arts en 2001, puis maîtrise en 2003). Après des études en philosophie des sciences à Bali en Indonésie (1997), elle a étudié l'histoire et la théorie du théâtre à l'université d'Oslo en Norvège (1998). Synne est membre des associations d'artistes NBK (Norske Billedkunstnere) et UKS (association norvégienne des jeunes artistes et plasticiens). Dragan Miletic est né en 1970 à Novi Sad en Yougoslavie et vit aujourd'hui à San Francisco, en Californie. Il est coordinateur Internet pour le San Francisco Art Institute (Californie), où il a obtenu une maîtrise en Beaux-Arts en 2000. Il était déjà diplômé de l'Académie des Beaux-Arts de Novi Sad en Yougoslavie (1997). De 1995 à 2000, Dragan a fait partie de l'association artistique Apsolutno. Bull.Miletic is the name of the collaborative team of Synne Bull and Dragan Miletic, founded in San Francisco in 2000. Synne Bull was born in Oslo, Norway 1973, and currently lives in San Francisco, California. Synne works as an Assistant Manager at the New Genres Department at the San Francisco Art Institute, where she received her BFA in 2001 and MFA in 2003. She studied History and Theory of Theater at the University of Oslo, Norway, in 1998 and Philosophy and Science Theory at the University of Oslo in Bali, Indonesia in 1997. Synne is a member of NBK and UKS [Norwegian Organization for Young Artist and Visual Artists] Dragan Miletic was born in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia 1970, and currently lives in San Francisco, California. Dragan works as a Web Coordinator at the San Francisco Art Institute, where he received his MFA in 2000. He received his BFA from the Academy of Fine Arts in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia in 1997. Dragan was a member of the art association Apsolutno between 1995 - 2000. La perception de la réalité à travers différents médias est au centre de notre production artistique. Nous nous intéressons aux nuances existant entre présentation et représentation, ainsi qu'à l'interaction entre support et sujet. Actuellement, nos centres d'intérêts conceptuels et formels nous portent régulièrement vers des œuvres à base temporelle, des installations vidéo à un ou plusieurs moniteurs. Certains projets passent par l'utilisation d'Internet, et l'une de nos installations comprend une projection de film 16 mm. Nos œuvres se veulent une réaction à notre environnement immédiat et à l'énergie qu'il génère. Notre exploration artistique de la réalité nous conduit à dépasser ce qui est évident, à tenter de mettre en valeur ce que la vie quotidienne peut contenir d'extraordinaire. Pour nous, les sens permettent une acquisition de connaissances et une compréhension de l'espace. La nature de la perception sensorielle permet d'identifier le dramatique et l'expressif dans les objets et les situations de tous les jours. L'espace entre expérience et imagination nous fait apparaître l'ordinaire comme extraordinaire.

Central to our production is the question of how reality is perceived through different media. We are interested in the nuances between presentation and representation and the interplay between medium and subject. Currently, our conceptual and formal interests often involve time-based work, using video for multiple channel installations or as single channel video. Some projects use the Internet and one of our installations uses a 16mm film projection. Through our work we respond to the immediate surrounding and the energies that it provides. In our artistic investigation of reality we seek beyond the obvious, trying to illuminate the extra-ordinary in everyday life. For us, employing senses is about acquiring knowledge and comprehending space. Through the sensatory perceptual nature we recognize objects and situations in every day life as dramatized and expressive. The space between experience and imagination lets us see the ordinary as extra-ordinary.
