Je regardais les photos de tous les endroits où j'avais vécu, en essayant d'élaborer un nouveau plan de ces lieux. En même temps, je filmais de petits actes de destruction, et des choses que je n'était pas censé faire, chez moi, avec une petite caméra de surveillance. Je voulais mettre ensemble ces deux vues disparates: la vision du désincarné et la vision de l'intime. Quand j'ai appris qu'un poème d'Emily Dickinson avait un contenu similaire, mon attention a été portée sur les rythmes et les syllabes comme structure révélatrice de la pièce. J'ai alors dévelopé un cadre métrique pour structurer mes prises de vue dans la vidéo. I was looking at ariel photographs of all the place I have lived and trying to construct a new map of these locations; At the same time I was filming the footage of small acts of destruction, or things I shouldn't be doing, at home through a surveillance camera. I wanted to bring these two disparate views together: the view of the disembodied and the view of the intimate. When I found an Emily Dickinson poem that involved similar content matter, it drew my attention to rhythms and syllable as a structure to revealing more about the piece. I then I developed a metric framework to structure my footage into the final video. Biographie Christine Catsifas est étudiante en transmédia à l'University of Texas d'Austin. I work with new media to map both physical and personal landscapes- to create points of intersection between these locations and a viewer's own terrain. Past video has been chosen by Women Make Movies to represent them in the 2000 Dallas Video Festival. Circumference was also screened at Cinematexas: 5th international film + video festival.
