A travers la manipulation de cette image, le travail permet une méditation visuelle et auratique sur la persistance de la beauté et de la vanité qui traversent la mort. L'installation est présentée selon trois panneaux qui ne sont pas sans évoquer la figure classique du triptyque dans la peinture. Cette allusion à l'iconographie sacrée se poursuit jusqu'à des motifs religieux tels que la puissance rédemptrice qui lie mort et la résurrection. La video montrée est un extrait d'un travail encore inachevé, qui fera partie du 4ème annual Art under The Bridge Festival. Le festival se déroulera du 13 au 15 octobre 2000 au D.U.M.B.O., Brooklyn; une excitante et vivante nouvelle communauté de l'art à New York. Pour cette exposition, l'œuvre sera installée dans un dock vide dans le voisinage industriel en bord de mer. Les spécifications précises de cette installation sont encore à déterminer, néanmoins. L'installation sera composée d'une projection video et d'une piste audio. A beautiful dead fish spins eerily, reflfected in a miror, creating the illusion of dancing twins.Through the manipulation of this image the work offers a visual and aural meditation on the persistance of beauty and vanity, lingering even after death. The installation is presented in three panels reminiscent of classical religious triptychs. This allusion to sacred iconographiy heightens the connection to religious motifs such as the redemptive power of death and rebirth. The video provided is an exerpt of a work in progress, which will be part of the 4th annual Art under The Bridge Festival. The festival will take place October 13-15,2000 in D.U.M.B.O., Brooklyn; a vivacious and exciting new art community in NewYork. For htis excibition, the work will be installed in an empty loaeding dock in the industrial waterfront neiborhood. The exact specifics of this showing are yet to be determined; however, the installation will be composed of a single channel video projection with an audio track. Biographie Shaun Irons, artiste visuel et auteur de performances a débuté avec le The Wooster Group de New York dans leur production The Hairy Ape qui a été jouée au Performing Garage, à Broadway, et qui a été présenté dans des villes comme Berlin, Munich, Lisbonne et Vienne. Au départ, il a été joué au HERE Theater de New York dans The Conversation Began Some Minutes Before Anything Was Said que Irons a co-écrit et dirigé. Rôle principal également dans le film Jugular Wine et le court-métrage Step qui a été récompensé. Il a été exposé plusieurs fois à New York et travaille actuellement sur une série de collages inspirés des Surréalistes. Lauren Petty vient de recevoir son diplôme de la New York University's Gallatin school en video art et performance. Shaun Irons is a visual artist and performer who appeared with New York's The Wooster Group in their production of The Hairy Ape which played at the performing garage, on Broadway, and which toured to cities such as Berlin, Munich, Lisbon and Vienna. Previously, he was seen at New York's HERE Theater in The Conversation Began Some Minutes Before Anything Was Said, which he co-created and directed. Shaun has played leading roles in the feature film Jugular Wine and the award-winning short film Step. He has had several solo exhibitions of artwork in New York and is currently working on a series of Surrealist inspired collages. Lauren Petty is a recent graduate of New York University's Gallatin school where she received a degree in video art and performance. At NYU, she studied video production, analogue and digital editing techniques, as well as performance with the artist Leonora Champagne and Deb Margolin. She currently the Education Coordinator at Harvestworks Digital Media Arts Center and teaches digital video editing. Shaun and Lauren have been working together creating video projects for the past several years. Their first collaboration was a multi-media performance called Incidences which was inspired by the absurdist writing of Daniil Kharms. Out of this came a video piece titled The Unexpected Drinking Bout. Swimmer Submerged, their following piece, premiered at the Brooklyn Film and Video Festival in 1998, was selected for the Mostra De Video independent in Barcolona, Spain, and was recently included in a video series that was part of the National Association of Artist's Organisation (NAAO) Conference in New York. For NAAO, the work was seen in several locations including Gale Gates gallery in D.U.M.B.O and the performance space Smack Mellon where it continued to play throughout Summer 2000 in conjunction with the exhibition "White Hot". Their newest completed work Sleepwalk recently played at Ocularis at Galapagos in Willliamsburg, Brooklyn and was screened at the Clearview Cinema Manhattan as part of the Brooklyn Film Festival in September 2000. Currently they are creating several new pieces including an installation that will be part of the 4th Annual D.U.M.B.O. art Under the Bridge Festival October 13-15,2000 taking place in Brooklyn
