L'arrivée de Pascal, un ami français de John au comportement obsessionnel, pousse le couple vers une crise qui façonnera l'avenir de John. John und Courtney bilden ein normales junges Paar. John leaves Courtney's bed and lets himself get lost in the orange glow and the city sediment of Brooklyn streets. Courtney gets dressed up and goes to the 24-hour store or her local bar. The people there call her Joan or Sibyl and they all seem to know something different about her. During the day, John and Courtney are a couple. John writes in a notebook but knows he's grasping at straws. Courtney goes to rehearsal. They don't talk much. Pascal comes to New York From Paris. He is older, unaccomplished and unemployed, but full of dreams and unabashed sexual desires. He and John talk about feeling old and useless, and about Courtney, and John feels good because he thinks he can tell Pascal anything. Pascal watches John and Courtney. John and Courtney scare each other. Courtney pushes John to be honest with her, and what he says leaves her speechless. When John leaves his bedroom to take a shower, she shits on his pillow and goes home. They spend the night apart, walking.The next morning John visits Courtney and ask her to go upstate to his sister's house in the woods with him. Reluctantly, John lets Pascal stay alone in his apartment. On the drive up the Taconic Highway John worries his books and papers, about his perfectly organised home left in the hands of Pascal. Pascal goes through John's drawers, reads his most personal letters and tears them up. He talks to appliances. He finds Courtney 's picture and masturbates. In the chaos he has made of John's room he rolls over and cries. John is inspired by his sister's apparently ideal family. He and Courtney walk through the woods looking for the sandpit he played in as a child. When they get there, he proposes to her. He turns around and finds she gone. Pascal fills his empty briefcase with John's belongings. He put on some of John's clothes and leaves the house. Biographie Nicholas Elliott est né en 1974 aux Etats-Unis et a grandi en France et au Luxembourg. Après des études de théâtre au Bennington College aux Etats-Unis, il met en scène des pièces à New York ,à Chicago, et au Luxembourg. Il habite aujourd'hui à Paris où il a réalisé plusieurs films en super 8. Il a interprété le rôle de Paul dans le film de Ellias Mehridge, "Shadow of a vampire" (quinzaine des réalisateurs 2000). Nicholas Elliott travaille actuellement à la réalisation de projections vidéo et super 8 pour la prochaine tournée du groupe placebo. "Lost man" est son premier moyen métrage. Nicholas Elliott ist in den USA geboren und ist dann in Frankreich und im Luxemburg aufgewachsen. Nach einem Studium in Theaterwissenschaften an dem Bennington College -USA, inszeniert er Stücke in New York, Chicago und im Luxemburg. Heutzutage lebt er in Paris, wo er mehrere Filme in Super 8 gedreht hat. In dem Film von Ellias Mehridge ("Shadow of a vampire ") hat er die Rolle von Paul interpretiert. N. Elliott arbeitet gerade an der Herstellung von Video- und Super 8- Vorführungen für die nächste Placebo-Tour. " Lost man " ist sein erster Medium-Film. Nicholas Elliott was born in Massashussetts in 1974 and grew up in the US, France and Luxembourg. He majored in theatre direction in Bennington College, where he directed two plays and his first video pieces. Since graduating in1996, he has directed two plays for Easy Productions, an American/French company in Luxembourg, and two plays for the Chicago-based Ironwood Theater Project. He is currently living in Paris, where he has written and directed two Super 8 shorts: Labyrinthe ( in collaboration with Automn Campbell) and In Art We Sleep Not Alone. Lost Man is his first professionally produced film. Elliott also appeared in a supporting role in the Elais Mehridge film Shadow of a Vampire (director's fortnight, Cannes 2000). He is currently finishing producing concert visuals for an up coming tour by Hut recording artists Placebo and preparing for his next film.
