RINA SHERMAN
Chicken Movie Clock

16 mm, 20', 1984
A chauffeur strolls her employer: friends visit, townships visits, waste lands. The journey ends up with a nuptio-funeral bal where men dance on rooster screams and Zulu music rhythm. A urban poetry which has a certain youthfulness in Johannesburg in the 80's.

L'oeuf sans coquille
Film Opéra, 35 mm, 13', 1992
A diva-men sings with a contralto voice while he slaughters a chicken on all forms that a man in swallow tail brings him (Jean Rouch), until a slave brings him a proof of his love for the chicken whose head is pressed in his chest… Time when the nightmare becomes dream. An original music by Jean Pacalet is composed by the compositor squeeze-box player, by the diva voice (Thierry Dubost) and the chicken noises created by Denis Mercier.
An ode to spiritual hermaphrodism where with imaginaries ritual mediation the sacrifice turns out not to be avoidable. The main premise is that nothing but love can overcome the impending destruction.

M. M. les locataires
16 mm, 64', 1995
"M. M. les locataires", an fragmented story where some habitants, who are good when they can and bad when they can't be good, evolve in a universe where stairs lead to access roads, where railways end up in empty pools, disused swimming pools, dried up fountains, bath with no stoppers. There is the misunderstanding that subtends the story, transformed in urban sites that evoke life: absence of water. The same water that never flows twice the same way for Heraclitus. The water that the sound space evokes unceasingly, in order to make it flow and that life takes up back at this interstice that deep water sand in the bottom of oceans creates.
