Olivo Barbieri shows us an unreal and artificial Las Vegas, by using aerial shots where architecture and urban planning lose reality and become the scale model of a demiurge who looks on. Guzman De Yarza compares two series of photographs taken in Siberia: portraits of teenagers and pictures of buildings of the city they live in. Dani Castillo et Enrique Corrales film Leganés street in Madrid as it is demolished. As the houses are emptied, the buildings are destroyed in order to make room for new constructions. Rodrigo Hernández establishes a ritual whose goal is to modify our apprehension of a particular space. Investigating the interplays between cinema, photography and video, Christina Amiran and Khali Charif have worked on a unique sequence shot of a deserted avenue of Copacabana, inspired by the aesthetic of John Ford’s films. Abu Ali films a poor area in Brooklyn, which transforms into an inner trip in a landscape of symbols and metaphors from the daily life, a trip through an inner landscape made up of both desolation and the celebration of life. 80 years after Fritz Lang’s travel to New York and exactly in the estimated time of the futuristic projections of his film “Metropolis», Maya Schweizer et Clemens Von Wedemeyer went to China to find film locations and investigate whether this film could be restaged. 80 years later, «Metropolis» is not just a futuristic projection anymore but has become an architectural and social reality.

Megan Fraser documents the destruction, dispersion and digitization of the human specimen’s collection from a medical museum in London. She creates creates an obsessive mediation about the notion of “thing” on the legal, social and cultural aspect influencing its status. Vasco Araujo films a little girl digging up bones in a garden and placing them in a house that seems deserted. Oscar Munoz’s work is a selfportrait that questions the passing of time. Julieta Hanono films the secret place where she was imprisoned at the age of 16 at the time of the military dictatorship in Argentina. The video operates a return to a blind point, the one of her own story. Elise Florenty sets two videos side by side, showing that which destroys and that which resists, in reference to the history both past and present of Argentina. Mario Opazo’s video is based on the gesture of burying and digging up. At the term of this process, a crate is filled up with sand, and the word «oblivion» is written on it. Christelle Lheureux weaves together the story of a soap opera broadcast on Vietnamese television and the tale of a young woman from Saigon who watches it. The gaps and points of intersection between these two stories bring the collective, communist imagination into confrontation with the daily life of a city in rapid expansion.

Carlos Pazos directs a black Madonna standing besides the only known albino gorilla in the world. Isabelle Levenez grasps the awkwardness of a family meal in which the silent protagonists are naked and wear masks. Gautam Kansara and his grandmother listen to traditional Indian songs and become their protagonists. Emanuelle Antille questions family relations and the roles each one plays, around the notions of sacrifice and of filial love. Matthew Murdoch films himself during a phone conversation with his father alongside Hadrian’s wall. Ryan Tan concentrates on one of the archetypes of mother-son relationships: reproaches around the dinner table. Asa Mori recreates some strange characters at teatime. Marko Mäetamm draws cruel sketches in which he exorcises the dilemma of being an artist and having a family. Nicholas and Sheila Pye direct each other as a couple facing a spirit announcing the death of one of the two. Sara Rajaei, by using the “deja-vu” notion, films sequence shots of characters in a family living room full of souvenirs. Hans Op de Beeck creates a strange group portrait. By removing the sense of colours, he underlines the peculiar fixity of posing and of generational gaps. Yu-Ching Tseng films a room in which a motionless child is standing while there is an alternate presence of either the mother or the father in the background. Antonello Faretta follows John Giorno to his native village where he recites the poem “Just say no to family values” while an old woman observes from the background.
