Jacky Sawatzky develops a social metronome by the way of a motion capture process. Yves Coussement compiles in a video sequence the advertising representations of different cities of the world. These cities broadcast on the web PowerPoint presentations. Apparently raw and obviously didactic, the technique reveals its dubiousness when tourists read aloud each slogan. Zhenchen Liu presents Shangai as the city is conceived, thought, imagined, in models and digital images by advertising professionals; and demonstrates otherwise the real city. Beatriz Caravaggio films in 2006 in Cuba a series of billboards used as propaganda from the beginning of the Cuban Revolution transmit its social and political ideology to the people. From a region between destruction and construction, Antoine Boutet has brought back images of immobile beauty, which he unveils like a series of paintings.

Albert Quesada improvises on the Goldberg Variations by J.S. Bach, played by Glenn Gould. The music and the artist compose a parallel path, in a constant but discontinued dialog,
which changes our approach to perception. Miranda Pennell films twenty dancers, their gaze fixed at the camera as if their lives depended on it; the movement of the camera becomes the motion of the world. Antonin de Bemels deconstructs and reconstructs the movement of the dancer in 4 counts through
the magic of editing. However, his feet are fixed to the ground, and there is no other horizon than his own body... Rafael Gallar interprets the «Theorem of Infinite Monkeys,» according to which one monkey, randomly typing on a keyboard, will eventually write a book. This theorem proves how improbable it is that such a thing could happen, but demonstrates above all that it is even more improbable to contradict the laws of statistics.

Bertram Dhellemmes and Ines Birkhan present a composite storytelling video installation – are superimposed the meeting of the she-Krampus (a legendary character from the Austrian Alps), the new inhabitants of the mountains, and the tribulations of Tchumuki, a rebel employee of the silence factory. Dressed in white, Ruth Baettig becomes a figure who runs, short of breath, through an urban landscape. She completes an athletic journey amongst various sculptures by well-known artists. Mathias Delfau creates an equilibrium between narration and motif. His piece strives to allow the viewer to spend time before the very feature that is contingent upon the gaze which ultimately carries him. In Yvan Pousset’s work, the video frame unveils a character dressed in red, roaming through a forest. Blind to those who would scrutinize him, he follows his activity without taking a break- a modern-day Sisyphus. Mathilde Mestrallet uses her body as a subject- a silhouette traversing the landscape. A young woman runs alongside bushes, hiding herself and attempting to escape. A gunshot rings out and stops her in her tracks. Seoungho Cho sheds light upon the subjective experience of “seeing.”

Julien Dubuisson and Arnaud Laroche film a succession of sequences on the roof of Corbusier’s house, in Firminy. The image is timed by four ball players; the architecture becomes one of the players. Alexander Vaindorf captures a moment in the present history of Unified Europe, in which people are not
only excluded, they are also subjected to a «modern form of slavery.» In reference to the description made by Dziga Vertov of a day in Moscow after the Social Revolution of 1917,
this movie describes the work of immigrants from the former Soviet Union, who spend their only day off, Sunday, in the Parco di Resistenza in Rome. The movie by Tirtza Even was shot in Cathagene, city of grandeur and decadence, where periods of grandeur and decadence alternated. The directing is a mesh of on and off camera events, betraying the cracks in which several characters evolve. With Thomas Köner, three scenes appear in remote and uncertain places: second third world, people in the streets of Harar, in Belgrade, and the slums of Buenos Aires. The motion of the camera flies fluidly. We see faces becoming transparent and images falling apart, obscuring the different levels of personal memory.

Ulf Aminde stayed more than two weeks in an IKEA store, asking customers to take part in a film. The film-making process becomes more significant than the resulting video. This standardized universe becomes the context for individual variations, from the most stereotyped to the less conventional. Hans Op de Beeck constructs the tragicomic portrait of three groups of table-companions, on three different occasions: a group of old people at a bare table having coffee and biscuits, a wedding meal with the families of bride and groom, a birthday dinner for a father and head of the family in a kitsch interior. Susanna Schoenberg runs in the longest parking garage in Europe, as a reflection on history and society appears on-screen in subtitles. Koen Theys films in an uncut sequence an installation of books, alarm clocks, extinguished candles, over which 20 000 snails are crawling, intercut with sound extracts from speeches given at the installation’s preview.
